OpenMoko 2007.2 on Palm TX (UPDATE!!!)

After a few days with some problems to build an OpenMoko *.ext2 image for my TX I get the new UI run on the Palm TX!

Here is a quick guide:

Get the TX-Kernel from here and unpack all to the SD-card.
Download the rootfs, copy to the /linux folder on your card and rename to rootfs.ext2 or build your on rootfs with the MokoMakefile (you have to edit the /build/conf/local.conf and set MACHINE=”palmtx”, IMAGE_FSTYPES = “ext2″, IMAGE_ROOTFS_SIZE_ext2=102400)
Edit /etc/Xserver to adjust the DPI settings and add:
“Palm TX”)
ARGS=”$ARGS -dpi 150 -screen 320×480 -hide-cursor -root-ppm /usr/share/pixmaps/xsplash.ppm” ;;
Generate a swap file: dd if=/dev/zero of=swap.fs bs=1024 count=65536 and copy it to the /linux directory on your card.
Tap Cocoboot and see OpenMoko booting!

Die letzten Tage habe ich versucht OpenMoko auf meinem Palm TX zu starten. Mein Ziel ist es die neue Version von OpenMoko, OpenMoko 2007.2, auf dem Palm TX zu starten. Bisher hatte ich nur Erfolg die erste Version zum Laufen zu bekommen. Das UI ist sehr langsam, aber es funktioniert alles. Mit der Skalierung gab es bis auf die Tastatur keine Probleme.

Nun bin ich dabei eine Version von OpenMoko 2007.2 für den Palm zu “builden”. Ich werde weiter berichten.

UPDATE: Nun habe ich es geschafft ein *.ext2 für den Palm zu builden, aber es gibt noch Probleme mit dem Kernel. Cocoboot friert ein, wenn ich booten will. Nehme ich einen funktionierenden Kernel, dann kann er das image nicht starten. Er bleibt bei: “init runlevel 5…” stehen und macht nichts mehr. Ich werde jetzt versuchen einen neuen Kernel zu basteln.
